🇨🇲 🎸 🎺 🔥 🎶 In 1989, Ndinga Man (the ‘guitar man’) continued his musical activism on the album that bears his nickname. Lapiro de Mbanga – the stage name of Lambo Pierre Roger – speaks out in defence of the marginalised with Mimba Wi and its unclassifiable musical energy, blending makossa, soukous and afrofunk, featuring Ray Lema on keyboards. Lapiro is once again in excellent company, with support from Toto Guillaume, Justin Bowen and the late Willy N’for. The Cameroonian, originally from Mungo, invites Manu Dibango to pay tribute to the dead on the beautiful Fôguô Ma Wô (Dry Your Tears). In the late 1980s, the electronic drums were programmed – it was the trend of the time – but for the rest, the groove is impeccable, made for the dance floor, and enhanced by the classic brass section from the Kassav’ school.
