Dikom Lam La Moto – Emile Kangue, 1980

,

🇨🇲 🎸 🎶 🏆 📀 Dikom Lam La Moto (My Dear Friend) is, in 1980, the first album released under the name of Emile Kangue, following the already successful experience with Black Styl alongside Nkotti François and Toto Guillaume. It is also his first major personal success with the title track, which was later covered in 1987 by Charlotte Mbango, who also turned it into a personal hit! The Cameroonian singer surrounds himself with a relatively unknown young guard, with the notable exception of Monny Muller, former guitarist of Black Styl, and Penda Dalle, also on rhythm guitar and with whom collaborations are frequent. As a pioneer of makossa, Emile Kangue demonstrates his mastery on these five reference tracks. Opening side B, Na Ma Yô is another success from the album, featuring a remarkable guitar chorus. Dikom Lam La Moto is also the first release from the young label Africa Oumba, founded by Jules-Patrick Wonga, who also produced the album. Over its four short years of existence, the label signed numerous references in makossa and bikutsi (Penda Dalle, Pierre de Moussy, Ange Ebogo Emerent, Nkotti François, Johnny Tezano…).
