Programme Jungle – Ultramarine, 1985

, , , ,

On the initiative of Mario Canonge and Nguyên Lê, a breathtaking global fusion was born in 1985 – at the same time as a certain Sixun, incidentally. Ultramarine lives up to its name, mixing jazz, the West Indies and Asia in this Programme Jungle formidably illustrated by Ben Radis. Africa would come fully into its own on subsequent albums. Alongside the two founders, we find Bago, Eddy Gaulein-Stef, Chris Henry and Jean-Luc Pino. They experimented, they jazz-fused, in total freedom, and above all, they won the bet!
