Kassav’ #5 came out in 1983. It is still not openly referred to as zouk. The word doesn’t appear on the album, and while the rhythm is furiously close to zouk, there are also hints of funk, rock and, of course, beguine. Alain Jean-Marie’s only collaboration with Kassav’ is on Say Big In Now (Se Biguine A Ou). Jacob, Georges and Pierre-Edouard are joined by Serge Bourgeois, Ralph Thamar, Fred Jr Desplan, Claudia Phillips and others.
