Si, Si, Disait l’Oiseau – Franck Valmont, 1966

,

In 1966, singer Franck Valmont made his first record – a 45 rpm EP, as was the fashion. « Si, si, disait l’oiseau » was a hit for the Guadeloupean, who had already been living in Paris for more than ten years at the time, and whose deep voice worked wonders. The album was produced by Moshé-Naïm, who would take Valmont on as a member of his label when, ten years later, he produced his only album, which has since become a cult classic, « Franck Valmont et Syncro Rhytmic Eclectic Language », with Louis Xavier and Jo Maka, among others. The singer – whose real name was Félix Vaton – got his start at Mireille’s small conservatory, where he made friends with Nougaro, Moustaki and others. Franck Valmont died in 2017.
