🎤🇲🇶🎸🌴✨ In the early 1970s in Martinique, singer Jean-Claude Artigny founded the Bookelos, with guitarists Raymond Rascar and Justin Vigilant, among others. Success came quickly and albums began to flourish from 1974 onwards. In 1976, the hit Oh! La, La opened the album Légende, which alternated between cadence, biguine, reggae, compas… The album alternated between sung tracks and instrumentals, the latter giving Raymond Rascar all the space he needed to express himself. Rascar was a guitarist of great character, often regarded as the soul of the band. His luminous choruses were as much Congolese rumba as Haitian compas, and even took on classical accents inspired by Pachelbel on the Concerto Pour Une Guitare that closes the album. Bookelos left its mark on the decade, but the adventure came to an end at the dawn of the 80s.
