🎶🎷🌴🎹🇫🇷 A shooting star at the crossroads of funk, the West Indies and reggae, Cap’tain Créole only shone for one memorable single! Clément Jorite, Jean-Pierre Juraver, José Jabol and Serge Rullaud hail from Trenchtown Meditation, a reggae band based in the Paris region, and combine their influences on this mind-boggling Fré Moin, where a brass section and dazzling synths meet over a funky rhythm. On the flip, the downtempo Ni Bel Jounin takes you by storm. And the whole thing is sprinkled with jazz and Africa – in short, a single not to be missed. The original is a ‘normal’ 45 which has become virtually impossible to find and inaccessible. But in 2019, Julien Achard, for his Beaumonde Records label, has pressed a quality reissue in 12″ format that is much more affordable.
