🎺🎸🇨🇩🎶🔥 The African All Stars is particularly aptly named, having featured no less than Dally Kimoko, Lokassa Ya Mbongo, Syran Mbenza among other emblematic signatures of Congolese rumba. In the late 70s, the orchestra accompanied Sam Mangwana on several records including Georgette Eckins in 1978. The title track is a swaying, irresistible rumba whose chorus already foreshadows another of the singer’s hits, Maria Tebbo, released the following year. Mangwana sings a duet with the inseparable Théo-Blaise Kounkou, and in this version of the orchestra, it is Dizzy Mandjeku who sets his guitar alight on frenzied soukous like Zewa Idée, which the fiery horns – unfortunately uncredited – finish off taking off. At the back, Roland Mvogo and Ringo Moya deliver an infallible rhythm that is no stranger to the addiction generated by these tracks. Lokassa Ya Mbongo, on rhythm, proves it on Zela Ngai Nasala’s dizzying breaks, and as Mangwana reminds us, » that’s real Zairean music ! « .
