I’m taking advantage of the fact that Nguyên Lê has just found a miraculous video recording of Ultramarine in 1989 (Ultramarine à La Clef – First part (https://youtu.be/hsZ43VXvJgQ) and the rest (https://youtu.be/8dyTm06hkfg)) to bring out the band’s third and last album. E Si Mala was released in 1991 to great acclaim, but Ultramarine sadly left it at that. They went their separate ways, producing albums that were equally impressive – with ex-members regularly inviting each other to join in. The only exception was when the band reunited for a concert at the Olympia for the Carib’In Jazz festival in 2010.
