đčđ¶đđ·đ„ In 1987, Ray Lema brought together his Bwana Zoulou Gang to record the album of the same name. The idea was to bring together the French and African musicians who had made Paris the capital and crucible of a world music that drew on all its influences. So we find Manu Dibango as well as Jacques Higelin, Willy N’for as well as Alain Bashung, Lokua Kanza as well as CharlĂ©lie Couture, in a joyful musical melting pot between Africa, funk, rhythm’n blues, etc. The fantastic cover art is by Jano who, after the adventures of Kebra, has just turned to African epics with Keubla. The Bwana Zoulou Gang tell stories (KayembĂ©, Misila) and push the groove, between Sixun-style jazz funk (Pariseries), reggae (Isle of Right) and flavours of blues as much as makossa, before ending with Kutakana in the mysteries of the tropical forest, to the sound of percussion held by the master of the house, Ray Lema, and the faithful Boffi Banengola.
