Bal Boutché – Ronald Rubinel, 1989

,

🎺🥁🪘🎤🕺🏻🇲🇶 Ronald Rubinel pays tribute to the tradition of Martinican balls with his 1989 Bal Boutché. He has surrounded himself with some of the best musicians from Africa and the Caribbean. The rhythm section is provided by Denis Hékimian and Michel Alibo, and the full Kassavian brass section is on hand to deliver a zouk that’s as energetic as it is warm: Yves N’djock and Jacob Desvarieux didn’t come here for nothing. Ronald Rubinel has not forgotten his many African collaborations, and the soukous shines through the zouk, with the voice of Aurlus Mabélé and the guitar of Diblo Dibala. Last but not least, the man from Martinique has called on some top-class backing singers, including Edith Lefel (of course), Ralph Thamar, Serge Ponsar, Jean-Paul Pognon, Jocelyne Béroard and many others. All that remains to be seen now is who will step up to the plate to organise the next Bal Boutché!
