Your Honour / No Honour Among Tiefs – Pluto, 1982

Pluto

,

🇯🇲🎸🎶📀🌴 Keith Pluto Shervington was born in Kingston in 1950 and took an early interest in music. The Jamaican played in several groups, The Presidents, The Hurricanes… He recorded several singles including Ram Goat Liver, which was covered by Jimmy Riley, and it was finally Dat that would be his first big hit. In 1975, he recorded Your Honour, but curiously, the track was not released. Pluto moved to Florida, and it wasn’t until 1982 that Your Honour was released in Europe, where it reached the Top 20 in the UK charts. A little reggae of the day, with calypso accents in the melody and arrangements, by one of the forgotten masters of the genre. The B-side features the instrumental No Honour Among Tiefs, clearly inspired by a certain Is This Love. Pluto was also bassist and sound engineer. He continued to tour in Florida, the Bahamas and several Caribbean festivals – we heard him with Steel Pulse – and passed away last year in Miami.
