Volume 2 – Les Ambassadeurs du Motel de Bamako, 1977

,

🇲🇱 🎸 🥁 🌍 ✨ In 1972, the young Salif Keita left the Rail Band, where he had already built a solid reputation, to join the Ambassadeurs du Motel de Bamako. In this orchestra, established at the initiative of the Malian Minister of the Interior, he reunited with guitarist Kanté Manfila, with whom he would become inseparable. The orchestra gained growing acclaim, masterfully interpreting a range of styles from Afro-Cuban to Afrobeat, as well as Mandinka traditions and soul. Saturated guitars and the Farfisa organ blended with traditional balafons and drums, renewing African music. This Volume 2, released in 1977, was no exception. Keita left the orchestra the following year and settled in Abidjan to form the equally renowned Ambassadeurs Internationaux, with the indispensable Kanté Manfila.
