🎶🎹🎺🌴👌 Third album for the Typical Combo, led by Georges Plonquitte and Hiver Abidos, who have been working with LPs since the previous year, after releasing a number of singles. « Typical avec Philo » signe aussi, en 1975, l’arrivĂ©e du groupe sur le label des Disques Debs. La cadence flirte avec le compas, et l’influence cubaine est omniprĂ©sente. Une mention spĂ©ciale pour les excellents claviers de (peut-ĂŞtre) JosĂ© Vulbeau, tant Ă l’orgue qu’au piano Ă©lectrique (les crĂ©dits sont quasi inexistants ici malheureusement…), qui dialogue avec brio avec la trompette furieusement latine de Philogène Astasie. Ce dernier est Ă l’honneur ici, compositeur de tous les titres. « Typical avec Philo » also marked the group’s arrival on the Disques Debs label in 1975. The cadence flirts with compas, and the Cuban influence is omnipresent. Special mention must go to the excellent keyboards of (perhaps) JosĂ© Vulbeau, on both organ and electric piano (unfortunately, the credits are almost non-existent here…), in brilliant dialogue with the furiously Latin trumpet of Philogène Astasie. Philogène Astasie is in the limelight here, composing all the tracks.
[Edit – 22/10/2024] A thought today for Philogène Astasie, and our condolences to his loved ones. The trumpeter and singer, seated in the middle of the row on this Typical Combo album, passed away yesterday. In addition to Typical, Astasie played with Fania Basse Terrienne, with Georges Plonquitte, Daniel Dimbas and Michel Nerplat, among many others. May the earth be light to him.
