For the third Pakatak album, in 1981, the team was virtually unchanged. In particular, Dédé St-Prix was still at the helm – and on the cover! – assisted by Bago, Jean-Paul Roffalet, Max Bellony, Philippe Burdy and Claude Garçon. And it’s always Martinique’s tradition that is showcased with talent. Bèlè, ti-bwa, chouval bwa roll under the percussion on which the leader’s flute twirls. And then there are two tracks that make this album perhaps my favourite of the group. Two tracks of deep soul and slow groove that take you far away. Listen to Confidence Cabrite Bois and Manman, which each conclude one side of the album, and let yourself be carried away!
