🎤🌴🎶🔥🎵 In 1988, Joëlle Ursull left Zouk Machine to try her hand at a solo career. The Guadeloupean singer was able to ride on the success of the zouk girls band to launch herself under her own name, and it worked. Joëlle enlisted the help of Jacob Desvarieux, Jean-Claude Naimro, Frédéric Caracas and Michel Alibo, among others, for this first album, Miyel, which is obviously a nervous zouk (the electric sounds of the time are de rigueur!) with endearing melodies. The singer’s recognizable voice hits the spot, right from the title track that opens the album. Joëlle Ursull even gives a Latin nod to Twankil, inviting Tito Puente and Carlos Sotto to play percussion. The backing vocals are also top-notch, with Ralph Thamar, Jean-Paul Pognon, Pascal Vallot… With Miyel, Joëlle was noticed and chosen to represent France at Eurovision 1990 – where she came second, with White And Black Blues written by Serge Gainsbourg!
