Matebis – Malavoi, 1992

,

An avalanche of hits on Malavoi‘s 1992 album Matebis. We could probably list the entire tracklist of the album, from La Siren’ to Mé Ki Sa Ou Lé via Concerto pour la Fleur et l’Oiseau, la Gwadeloupéen, Fort-de-France, etc. and of course highlight the orchestra’s prestigious guest list. While there are the classics – Pipo Gertrude, Ralph Thamar and Paul Rosine, for example – there are of course other big names, including the late Edith Lefel, as well as Jocelyne Béroard, Tanya St-Val, Philippe Lavil, Kali, Sam Alpha and Beethova Obas. As for the orchestra, alongside Paul Rosine – whose last album this will unfortunately be – we find those who have made it a success for years, the impeccable rhythm of Denis Dantin and Jean-Marc Albicy, the characteristic strings of Lagier, de Negri, Soïme et al. and in the backing vocals, the too rare Sonia Pinel-Féréol accompanied by the inseparable Suzy Trébeau.
