🎸🎷🥁🪗🌴💿 Guitarist, arranger and producer, Toguy has obviously had his place on the podium of Cameroonian makossa musicians since the 80s. Toto Guillaume began his career with a bang, setting up the Black Styls in Douala with Nkotti François. After settling in France, he attended the Conservatoire National de Musique in Paris, where he was one of a group of Afro-Caribbean musicians scouring the capital’s studios with Michel Alibo, Jean-Claude Naimro and others. His signature can be found on hundreds of albums, ranging from zouk to makossa. But the « Captain of the makossa team » never forgot to produce his own records, including 1983’s Makossa Digital. Makossa indeed, but not only, as the funk-rock groove of Mulema Mwa Muna shows. The guests are prestigious, and Manu Dibango’s distinctive saxophone is certainly recognizable on Bato Ba Nunga, alongside Aladji Touré, Brice Wassy, Patrick Francfort, Douglas Mbida and many others.
