🇨🇬 🎸 🎶 💰 ❤️ Pamelo Mounk’a, from the Congo, launched his solo career in 1981. By then, he had already built an extensive career that began in the early 1960s when he was just fourteen years old. Over two decades, he collaborated with Tabu Ley Rochereau, Bantous de la Capitale, and the Peuple du Trio Cépakos, frequently moving between these groups. His self-titled debut album was released on Eddy Gustave’s label, Sonics, and opened with L’Argent Appelle l’Argent, a track that became a soukous standard, exploring the theme of wealth begetting wealth. In 1999, Bisso Na Bisso incorporated its chorus into Dans la Peau d’un Chef. On the B-side, the rumba Amour de Nombakele showcased Ignace Nkounkou’s magical guitar and became a hit in Gabon. The following year, Mounk’a achieved further success with Ce n’Est que Ma Secrétaire. He was later called to reform Bantous de la Capitale from 1986 to 1990. After falling ill, he passed away in 1996.
