🎶🥁🌴🎤🎵 Since 1991, Balkouta has been keeping the modern gwoka tradition alive, led by Dominique Tauliaut. The percussionist is also known for his many collaborations, with Kassav’ for example. But so, over the years, the collective has produced three albums, of which Jénès is the most recent, released in 2014. Bémirail, the second, was released in 2003. Tauliaut is assisted here by his alter ego, Robert Coliné, but it’s a whole family in fact that gravitates around them. And the drums also take in Martinique, Haiti… And around the vocals and percussion are some familiar names, like Jean-Philippe Fanfant, Rony Olanor, Franck Nicolas, Sonny Troupé and Yann Negrit.
