Jacob F. Desvarieux / Georges Decimus – 1986

🎉🎵🌴🎺🎷 The association of Jacob Desvarieux with Georges Décimus as leaders had worked tremendously well two years earlier with the immortal Zouk La Sé Sel Medikaman Nou Ni. So in 1986, Jacob and Georges went back to the drawing board. The same year also saw the release of Siwo under the name Jocelyne, and since the preceeding year, the parent company had completed its « experimentation » phase and the first albums of the « official » group were releasing their share of hits. It’s an eminently auspicious time for Kassav’, and Gorée is no exception. It’s right in the vein of the aforementioned tracks and albums, because the recipe works like a charm. Gorée, Zongonn, Soulajé Yo, Mwen Envi Ou… Nervous bass, bordering on trance, layered synths and, of course, a barrage of sharp brass. Alongside the family, a few choice guests feature on several tracks, including Camille Soprann’s saxophone, Michel Alibo’s bass, and the backing vocals of Edith Lefel and Georges Seba. An excellent opportunity to celebrate Jacob’s birthday on 21 November.
