🎤🎹🎷🎶🔥 Since her acclaimed debut, singer Emeline Michel has been able to count on the support of a number of leading figures in Haitian music, including Mushy Widmaier, his brother JoĂ«l and Beethova Obas. Her third album, Flanm, released in 1989, is no exception. Produced by Ralph Boncy, Mushy Widmaier was not only the keyboardist but also the artistic director, and the result was as good as it gets, moving from zouk to the shores of smooth jazz tinged with blues. Further on, Flanm soaks up the Haitian rhythm, taking us through the maze of Port-au-Prince to the sound of the rara and ending with the heartbreaking but superb and luminous 92. The voice is powerful and clear, and the singer benefits from the accompaniment of Mushy’s signature group, ZĂ©klĂ©, as well as the guitar of Beethova Obas, the drumsticks of JoĂ«l Widmaier and Fabrice Rouzier. The brass section also features Thurgot ThĂ©odat himself, and James Germain provides backing vocals.
