Fair-Nick Stars – 1979

,

🇬🇵 🎺 🎹 🌍 🔄 The Fair-Nick Stars is the orchestra of the Fanfant family, formed in the tradition of the Fairness trio of brothers Christian, Fred, and Guy. Guy and Monique Fanfant founded the ensemble in 1974, achieving immediate success with Arrêté Mal Palé. Their second album, released in 1979, features particularly well-balanced cadences, such as the instrumental Black Sexy, blending early synth sounds and brass ostinatos led by Richard Descieux and Jean Kebreau. The track Mauricette, opening side B, foreshadows the zouk genre to come. The Fanfants also excel in venturing beyond Guadeloupe, skillfully embracing reggae (Love and Shield Your Woman), calypso (Energic Song), and soukous (Mode Africa). Every chorus—whether on piano, guitar, percussion, or drums—is meticulously crafted by the expert hands of Michel Monrose, Jean-Pierre Ismaël, and Guy Laville. The third and final album by the Fair-Nick Stars, Métamorphose, was released in 1981 and introduced the young Thierry on bass and Jean-Philippe on percussion.
