🎶🇬🇵🎤💿❤️ Allez zouk! Dissonance left its mark on the history of zouk in Guadeloupe with several hits. A flagship group in the 80s, it was founded by Rudy Benjamin, José Caraïbe, Tony Lodin (at the time on vocals, not drums) and Jean-Claude Damprobe. Face Cachée was released in 1988, a year after their first album, Zouk Lov. Here too, a number of standout tracks, between electro-zouk (Lanmou Limbé Vacances, Ça Craint) and zouk love (Symphonie, Anti Star). The album was recorded in Paris, with a fine brass section, Carol Fredericks and Yvonne Jones on backing vocals alongside the inescapable Georges Séba, and some dazzling bass and guitar work by Jean-Claude Damprobe. In short, an effective opus that remains one of the group’s best-known. José Caraïbe passed away in 2021, and Rudy Benjamin, last year, after having turned to the carnival tradition for several years with the group VIM.
