🇨🇩 🎹 ⚡ 🌍 🎶 Luisa-Maria Hernandez regained prominence in 1980, even as she entered her sixties. Yet, it was as early as the 1940s that the Cuban singer was first noticed, earning the nickname la India de Oriente, after the province where she was born. She performed on television and radio, collaborated with Trio La Rosa, and accompanied Celia Cruz before emigrating to the United States. In 1980, Roberto Torres signed her to his expanding label, Guajiro Records. The result was ¡Desde El Cobre Con Amor!, a vibrant son montuno album featuring label stalwarts, including pianist Alfredo Valdés Jr and the spirited flute of El de la 7. Luisa-Maria Hernandez continued to release several more albums throughout the decade. She passed away in Miami in 2006.
