🎵🇳🇱🛢️📅💃 The Dutch Rhythm Steel Orchestra was founded in 1970 by Adolf J. Tevreden and Bernito E. Riley, former members of the Silvertone Steel Orchestra. But it wasn’t long before they were touring Europe under the excellent name of Trinidad Oil Company and releasing their first hits. In 1976, The Calendar Song, originally called January, February… was an international hit. The song was released on the album Dance Dance Dance, a mix of original tracks and a number of covers of the hits of the moment, arranged between calypso, soul and reggae (Feelings, Jesus-Christ Superstar…). In the middle of the B-side, don’t miss the outrageously funky What You Gonna Do Is Dance, Dance, Dance, which also gives its name to the album, and in the same vein I Want To Get Down On You, which closes the program. The band went on to collaborate with Boney M on Gotta Go Home, and performed until the turn of the millennium before disappearing when their manager died.
