đȘđŹđ€đđâ€ïž Mohamed El Izabi, Egyptian singer and actor, born in Cairo in 1938, had his period of success from the late 50s to the mid 70s. Ouyoun Bahia (The Eyes of Bahia), released by Moriphon in the early 70s, is one of the songs that marked his career, typical of the popular shaabi folk of the time. The song, composed by Baligh Hamdi with lyrics by Mohamed Hamza, was commissioned by the King of Morocco, Hassan II, and El Izabi was the first to perform it. Ouyoun Bahia is often understood as an allegory of Egypt in the guise of a love song. The superb cover of this edition is probably also a big part of this success! The title, in two parts, spans both sides of the 45.
