Come on, zouk ! At the same time as the excellent Passeport album already featured here, so in 1983, Jacob Desvarieux released Oh Madiana under his own name. Two covers, in fact, for this » mini » album – just six tracks – featuring the two hits Zombi and Oh Madiana, and this one is the least common. The rest of the programme is original, and features the essence of Kassav’ at the time, with Georges Décimus, Douglas Mbida and backing singers Patrick Saint-Eloi and Jocelyn Mocka. Guests also include Fred Desplan on ka, who has yet to join the Caraïbe Jazz Ensemble, but will do so in a few years’ time.
