2003 saw the release of Sa Ki Ta-W…, the first (and only to date) album by Martinican combo Bwakoré. The group formed by José Marie-Rose, José Zébina, Max Télèphe, Claude Césaire & Alwin Lowensky immediately achieved a well-deserved reputation in the French West Indies. Their Kreyol Djaz, rooted in tradition, stretches happily over long, hypnotically rhythmic tracks, between original compositions and standards by Eugène Mona and Pierre Louis. But despite recurring speculations, no new album is in sight to date, even if it is rumoured that tracks have been slumbering somewhere in the studio for a long time…
