Handsworth Revolution – Steel Pulse, 1978

, ,

Handsworth Revolution, Steel Pulse‘s first album, released in 1978 and named in tribute to the Caribbean quarter of Birmingham that bears its name. Forty-four years and not a single wrinkle! Reggae that mixes Jamaican and British influences, with a few tracks that have become standards, including the essential Soldiers, and messages against racism with Ku Klux Klan. The album even closes with the very ska Macka Splaff. Handsworth Revolution enabled Steel Pulse to support Bob Marley, and from there opened the doors to international success.
