⭐️🔈👮🇨🇲🎶🎭💃⚽🤝 In 1986, the band Golden Sounds hit it big with their song Zangalewa. So much so that the title even became the band’s usual name. The four gendarmes of Cameroon’s national guard, Jean-Paul Zé Bella, Emile Kojidie, Doo Belley and Eugène Victor, have just scored a definite hit, as much for the music and lyrics as for their cartoonish staging. Beyond this theme with its joyously martial rhythm, the album, released on local label Ebobolo Fia Production, delves into the rhythms of Central Cameroon, between bikutsi and makossa, with the participation of singer Annie Anzouer. And the album also features some of the usual fine names, including Marilou and Georges Seba, Denis Hekimian and Philippe Guez, among others. The song Zangalewa came back into the spotlight when Shakira sampled it for the 2010 football World Cup, having heard it as a child in Colombia, where it had been a huge hit. An agreement was finally reached with Golden Sounds around this « re-adaptation » of the track.
