Carnaval Fever – Jeff Joseph, 1985

The Brooklyn-based Mini Records label, which mainly specializes in Haitian compas, had opened its doors to Jeff Joseph. Accompanied by the label’s house band, the Mini All Stars, made up of Haitian musicians, the Gramacks leader recorded a few tracks in the label’s « big singles » series, maxi-45s « guaranteed to make you dance ». And it worked for this Fièvre Carnaval, released in 1985, the B-side of which is simply the English version of the same title. Joseph would also record the Gramacks’ hit Debar Debar, in the same series.
