The group Bèlènou was formed in the early 80s, on the initiative of Edmond Mondésir and Léon Bertide. The group’s records were released on their own label, Asé Pléré An Nou Lité (APAL). Their work on rehabilitating and developing the bèlè is the counterpart to Gérard Lockel’s work on the gwoka in Guadeloupe. Emosyon Tambou-A is the group’s fourth album, released in 1990 and now impossible to find. Fortunately, Julien Achard (@diggersdigest) had the bright idea of reissuing it in 2019 on his Beaumonde Records label. The record is available again on the label’s website or its BandCamp page. Also featuring Daniel Vallejo, Evelyne Harpon, Maud Lombion and Robert Rofallet.
