Bélétronic – Claude Rodap, 2016

,

🎵🔌🎹🎤🎧 In the early ’80s, a propitious period for electronic sound experimentation, Martinique’s Claude Rodap recorded with his Frégate Orchestra, a now untraceable and untouchable album, Syn-Ka. Subsequently, only three additional tracks have come down to us, recorded between 1995 and 2000. The jack-of-all-trades multi-instrumentalist had tackled zouk and bèlè, and the set was finally released in 2016 as an EP on Dutch label Rush Hour. Bélétronic opens with Hiwa’s soaring electro-ti-bwa. Then it’s back to Paco’s mid-tempo, wacky harmonies on the B-side, served up on strings at will, before finishing with the aptly named electro-Zouklove.
