Tabou Combo Superstars – Tabou Combo, 1979

,

🇭🇹🎶🕺🔥🌍 In 1979, the Haitians of Tabou Combo continue to ride the wave of its irresistible fusion of compas and disco. Tabou Combo Super Stars lives up to its name with a fiery opus. The highlight is Voyé Monté, with its addictive groove, unstoppable breaks, all kinds of quotations and incessant back-and-forth between compas and disco (Adolphe Chancy’s bass is monstrous). In short, ten minutes that will leave your audience breathless. And the rest of the album is more than up to the task, from the disco side (Ooh La La) to the compas side (Ça Ou Fé, M’Enragé (L’An-X))! All the greats are here, from Elysée Pyronneau to Herman Nau, Roger Eugène and more. Glenn Ferris is also present, reminding us that it was thanks to his involvement with Tabou Combo in New York, and the many tours that followed, that he eventually settled in Paris, where he led a career that was as rich as it was eclectic, ranging from jazz (Palatino, Emmanuel Bex, Martial Solal!) to funk (George Duke, Alphonse Mouzon!) funk (George Duke, Alphonse Mouzon!) makossa (Ben Decca, Moni Bilé!), zouk (Kassav’, Volt Face!) and countless other equally prestigious artists.
