🎤🎶🌍🔥🎹 The Senegalese-Cameroonian singer Jeannette Ndiaye is best known for her backing vocals with numerous African artists, from Nelle Eyoum to Alpha Blondy. However, she was also the artist behind two hits, Makom Ma Bobe and Mut’a Mbamba, released as singles in 1981. The latter was later included in her only album, Muna, in 1988. Muna was published by Celluloid, and Jeannette Ndiaye was backed by the ever-popular Brice Wassy and Michel Alibo, Marilou and George SĂ©ba on backing vocals, and Solo Razafindrakoto on guitar… On Mut’a Mbamba, Manu Lima took over the keyboards, with arrangements by Aladji TourĂ© and the ever-present brass of Jacques Bolognesi and co. The result is a mix of excellent makossa, afro-zouk and even two more experimental tracks, Esus 1 and 2, where Jeannette Ndiaye’s husky voice captures the listener, and is reminiscent of forthcoming albums by Burundian Khadja Nin.
