Quint’Up II – Mario Canonge & Michel Zenino, 2023

Six years after an explosive debut album, the quintet formed on the initiative of Mario Canonge and Michel Zenino, with the talented Josiah Woodson, Ricardo Izquierdo and Arnaud Dolmen, are back at it again, much to our delight. Quint’Up II delves into the tradition of hard bop that has been labelled Blue Note for over sixty years, and reminds us just how much this style is still alive and kicking today. The quintet formed by Mario and Michel, initially as an evolution of their Wednesday standards at Baiser Salé, still has a very bright future ahead of it!
