Batarsité – Danyèl Waro, 1994

,

🥁🌴🎶🔥📣 Like Gwoka in Guadeloupe and Bèlè in Martinique, Maloya is a rhythm of resistance in La Réunion. Danyèl Waro has been one of its most famous and ardent defenders since the 1970s. After his first album, Gafourn, released in 1987, it was in 1994 that Batarsité, which has since become his signature track, was born. A veritable hymn to the Reunionese identity and the blend from which it sprang, Batarsité has become a leitmotif for Waro and a song used in all his concerts and reinterpreted from time to time, by Valérie Chane-Tef’s Akoda trio for example. Accompanying Waro on this landmark album are Fred Belhomme, Loran Dalleau, Tikok Vellaye and Serz Dafrevil.
