The Montpellier group Zoréol has made a name for itself with a fusion of maloya, sega, Afro and jazz. The collective was formed in 2003 and celebrates the meeting of Zoreilles and Créoles. Zoréol, that is. The five musicians released this, the group’s first album, Bat’ La Ter, at the end of 2011. From Creole romance to sega, from maloya singing to the sound of the roulèr and kayamb, to the most unbridled improvisation, mixing all influences, all styles, Zoréol, formed around Alain Picaud, a songwriter from Reunion Island, claims to be Creole, and without question, justifies it!
