In 1983, Harry Simonnet’s Typical Combo (and Georges Plonquitte) was one of the well-established pillars of cadence/compas in Guadeloupe, where it had been performing successfully for fifteen years. And he hasn’t yet made the switch to zouk, which will happen soon. A nod to this famous group, then, with Wouvé chimen pou ba typical pasé, even though its leader left us a few months ago – RIP. A little anecdote: this was my first Debs record, and it’s hard to imagine that a few years later I’d be regularly walking down the allée Dumanoir and its banana trees in Capesterre Belle-Eau, which illustrate the cover!
