Your weekly dose of Haitian compas, with the first album by New York-based Djet-X, released in 1975 by Macaya. Saxophonist Gérard Daniel’s band went on to produce some fifteen albums up until the early 2000s, holding their own against the likes of Les Frères Dejean, Skah-Shah and DP Express. They have performed several times in Guadeloupe, most recently in 2012. The man nicknamed the Brooklyn Prefect tragically passed away in 2018 in New York.
