Just ten years ago, Cesaria Evora, la Rainha da morna left us. It was, of course, the track Sodade, from that 1992 album Miss Perfumado, that made her international popularity explode. It was, however, already her third album at the time, following the resumption of her career in 1987 – and following a hiatus dating back to the 1970s. She paved the way for many Cape Verdean singers such as Mayra Andrade, Maria de Barros and Mariana Ramos, whose latest beautiful album, soberly entitled Morna, we reviewed.
