In 2007, four « up-and-coming youngsters » released their long-awaited debut album. Caraib II Jazz is formed by Jonathan Jurion (pno), Laurent Lalsingué (steel drums), Régis Thérèse (b) and Grégory Louis (dms). Although they deny it, it’s hard not to think of Sakésho when you listen to them, and that’s clearly a compliment. A number of guests appear throughout the album, including the excellent percussionists Dominique Tauliaut, Bago and Laurent Coatalen. In the backing vocals, we find an often-requested pair, Lucile Kancel and Patrice Hulman. Jacques Schwarz-Bart lent his saxophone to Yelale, and accompanied the group on stage at the ÎloJazz festival in Pointe-à-Pitre the following year. Their second album, Four Elements, would be released in 2014.
