Chaltouné, Limyè a Neg Mawon – Christian Laviso, 2005

,

In 2005, the guitaristka – the phrase is his – Christian Laviso departed from his usual emblematic formations (Horizon, Simenn Kontra or even Gaoulé Mizik) to produce a first album under his own name. It was an opportunity to record the work he has been doing as a trio with Sonny Troupé and Aldo Middleton. Chaltouné (subtitled Limyé a neg mawon) features compositions by the guitarist as well as borrowings from Gérard Lockel (Lendepandans) Guy Conquet (San Mélé) and Georges Troupé (Lien Eternel). The tracks also feature Yves Thole, Patrice Hulman, Lucile Kancel, Jean-Pierre Solvet and Jonathan Jurion. The cover art was designed by Joël Nankin. A second album, Ti Moun a Lafrik, was released in 2008, featuring contributions from Kenny Garrett and others.
