Live La – Dominik Coco & Karibbean Koumbeat, 2006

,

The 2000s were the years of Dominik Coco‘s fury. The singer came out of Volt-Face and launched his energetic Creole folk, mixed with zouk, reggae, rap, creole soul and gwoka. The success is also due to the close-knit tribe that accompanies the leader, the inescapable Karibbean Koumbeat. The rhythm section features Eric ‘Bluebass’ Delblond and Daniel Kissoun, complemented by Didier Juste’s percussion, backing vocals from Nathalie Jeanlys and Leedyah Barlagne (next door), and lead vocals from Willy Salzedo (keys), Philippe Sadikalay (sax), Ludovic Tinval and Willy Blombou (guitars). And to complete the team, we can’t forget the management of Dominique Hubert and the much-lamented Guy-Michel Couvin, the charismatic alter ego of the leader, who passed away prematurely. Live-La was recorded during the tour and released in 2006. The album proved a huge hit with the public, who went wild for Coco’s hits (Gwada, Natirel Poézi etc.) and Jeff Joseph’s covers (Imajiné). Live-La also includes a DVD of the same programme, so you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the tour.
