4 Ti Mo came out in 1999, nestling in the middle of Ziskakan‘s abundant discography (see the group’s first album by going back in time in this blog). The Reunionese collective, led by Gilbert Pounia, was already almost twenty years old at the time, and continued to explore the mix of influences between maloya, Creole folk, Indian inspirations and even blues. In the middle of the album, MKM is dedicated to Maya Kamaty, Gilbert Pounia’s daughter, who is now flying high on her own wings and already has two albums to her name.
