Des \u00e9tudes \u00e0 Paris \u2013 o\u00f9 le virus de la musique prend forme \u2013 puis un retour \u00e0 Port-Au-Prince, avant de se r\u00e9installer du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de Toulouse et de faire des allers-retours entre les deux rives de l\u2019oc\u00e9an. Il monte plusieurs formations avant de se fixer au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 2000 sur son groupe <strong>Badji<\/strong>. Le premier album sort en 2006, avec les participations du bassiste prodige Marck-Richard Mirand, du batteur Sega Seck rencontr\u00e9 en Sud de France, du regrett\u00e9 Claude Py, guitariste on ne peut plus inspir\u00e9, du percussionniste Claude Saturne, que l\u2019on entendra plus tard dans le projet Voodoo Jazz Trio de Jacques Schwarz-Bart, ainsi que de Loubens Bien-Aim\u00e9, Jean Mary Louissaint, Lesly Denard et Nickel Jasmin. Thurgot Th\u00e9odat propose un m\u00e9lange particuli\u00e8rement r\u00e9ussi de jazz et musique vaudoue, plong\u00e9 dans la tradition du rara ha\u00eftien, mais ne d\u00e9daigne pas des d\u00e9tours vers le calypso ou la bossa nova. En 2007, il pr\u00e9sentera Badji lors du Festival de Jazz de Pointe-\u00e0-Pitre en Guadeloupe. Thurgot devient \u00e0 la m\u00eame \u00e9poque directeur de l\u2019\u00c9cole Nationale des arts (ENARTS) de Port-au-Prince, o\u00f9 il enseigne. Miracul\u00e9 du tremblement de terre de 2010, il vivra plusieurs semaines dans sa voiture, son saxophone dans le coffre.
