Son premier album, <strong>D\u00e9broussailler<\/strong>, parait en 1983, et est sans conteste celui par lequel tout le monde le connait, publi\u00e9 avec l\u2019assistance de Douglas Mbida. Le makossa y affleure tout en finesse, sous la guitare acoustique et d\u00e9li\u00e9e de Manulo, et des titres comme Miolo Ma Mbangisane ou Nguma Penda avaient d\u00e9finitivement assis sa r\u00e9putation.
